On the eve of the season kick off, 3rd and 4th grade squads have been walking quietly holding a big stick as they prepare to tackle ADFA at Dowsett Oval tomorrow.

3rd Grade Head Coach, John Ryan has been orchestrating an assault on the competition for many months, and despite some reasonable trial form, Coach Ryan is feeling quietly confident.

​

“We’ve had a couple of decent hit outs so far. Tough day against Vikings a couple weeks ago, but not even Winx wins her barrier trials so we won’t be reading too much in to it,” Coach Ryan said.

​

Coach Ryan's coaching pedigree has plenty of silverware in the cupboard, including being the mastermind of the dominant forward pack in the 2nd Grade Premiership in 2005. Coach Ryan’s brother-in-law is Brumbies forwards coach Laurie Lord Fisher, and those close to the inner sanctum of Coach Ryan’s psyche know Lord bounces ideas with the Wests stalwart around the Christmas dinner table.

Julian Baratta, 4th Grade Coach has also brought in some big gun support including Wests Life Member and former President Shane Campisi to steady the ship as 4th Grade Manager. The fourth grade team has a few familiar faces lacing up the boots this year and the team is taking shape. There are rumours former premiership winning Brumby Jone Tawake will be taking the field in 2018 also.

“The boys have been great and really enjoying the footy. We just want the season to kick off so are all pretty excited,” Baratta said.
