Drew Southwell returns to where it all began

This weekend, in the match of the round, Wests will take on an in form Queanbeyan Whites club at Jamison Enclosed. The fixtures will coincide with Wests Ladies' Day on the 21st April, as the mighty Lions will be looking for victory against the undefeated club from across the border.

After suffering a broken ankle which saw the end of his 2015 season, and a rugby stint in Calgary, the come back kid and three time 'Wests Most Eligible Bachelor' Drew Southwell, is looking to build on last weeks performance.

The prolific try scorer and 96 First Grade capped veteran is relishing the opportunity to be back in the Lions' Den for 2018.

"It's been a fair old comeback from 2015, but I'm really enjoying being back playing rugby at Jamison again. We were in a strong position last week and had opportunities to put Easts away, but to their credit they stayed in the fight and launched their comeback. The Whites are always hard to beat so we are preparing for a tough match," Southwell said.

Southwell, a Wests Junior since under 5s, has returned in 2018 to add poise and experience to the young Wests back-line and will form a First Grade line up which includes seven other players who have transitioned from the Wests Junior Club.

"The squad and club culture this year has been awesome. We've got a young team and everyone is really enthusiastic to rip in. Last weeks Old Boys Day was massive and the support behind the club is something which really motivates all the teams" Southwell said.

The weather looks absolutely superb this weekend for some cracking running rugby.
