Harry Lloyd signs with the Western Force

Prop on the loose, Harry Lloyd scores a beauty!

Harry Lloyd signs a two-year deal with the Western Force, and will depart for the West Coast of Australia in the coming weeks.

Lloyd, the Captain of the First Grade Grand Final Team in 2017, is excited about the opportunity where the Western Force team will play eight games in 2018 against high quality international and provincial opposition.

“I’m excited about the chance that’s come my way. They’re developing a really good squad and I can’t wait to learn from and play against some of the best,” Lloyd said.

“The timing obviously isn’t great from a Wests perspective, but I know the squad is strong and will continue to build. I came to Wests as a St Edmund's 2nd XV player, and have worked my way up to this opportunity, I owe a lot to the club for this chance,” a grateful Lloyd said.

The loose head prop joined Wests in 2013 where he has quickly amassed 87 games for the Lions, 54 being in the premier grade. It’d be rude not to mention the 13 tries Harry has notched up for the club too.

Harry has sky rocketed to be on the radar of many Super Rugby teams in 2018. Harry was a standout performer in the 2017 NRC competition, earning a run in the Brumbies trial in early 2018.

First grade coach, Craig Robberds acknowledges the large shoes to fill with Lloyd’s departure, “Harry is a great leader, and it was only a matter of time before he got picked up. Wests are proud of his development and he has worked hard for many years. He deserves this opportunity”.

Lloyd joins a long and growing list of Lions who have made the transition to professional rugby. From everyone at Wests, well done Harry!

The Western Force play their first match of 2018 against Fiji on the 4th May.
