Matt Jones to join the 100 Club
Wests stalwart and all round great guy Matt Jones set to reach 100 club games for Wests as the Lions take on Uni-Norths at the Barn this weekend.
Jones will be making his first appearance in season 2018, running out for 2nd grade this weekend following a return from an injury suffered in the trials.
“The injury has been frustrating, but I’m looking forward to getting out there tomorrow and giving it a crack with the boys,” an excited Jones said.
Jones is another superb club man developed from the production line of Wests Juniors. Having won best back for Wests Under 18s in 2009, the wily red head has progressed his rugby career playing a variety of positions across a number of grades, including 15 appearances in the 1st Grade Jersey.
Wests 1st Grade Assistant Coach, Luke “Beefy” Roberts, had nothing but praise for Jones.
“Jonesy is a great club man and a pleasure to coach. He is a no frills, always gives 100% attitude kind of guy. Always turns up and gets the job done, without question and a smile on his dial,” Roberts said.
Uni-Norths are strong across all grades this year and the Lions will be hungry for victory. Get down to ANU North Oval to support the teams in what is shaping up as some intriguing battles across all grades.
